The problem
CorelDRAW is everywhere in production: print shops, signage, screen printing, embroidery, laser and vinyl cutting. Its file format is proprietary, changes every year, and CorelDRAW itself never opens a file from a newer version. The result is a daily stream of “the file won’t open” messages, files that cannot be previewed without a license, and conversions that need someone with the right software on the right machine.
CDRfix exists to make those problems go away in a browser tab.
What CDRfix does
- Reads the version instantly, in your browser, before any upload.
- Views CDR, CDT and CMX files, with pages, zoom, fonts and dimensions.
- Converts CDR to PDF, SVG, PNG, JPG, WebP, TIFF, AI, EPS, PS, DXF, EMF, WMF, PLT and CMX.
- Converts to CDR from SVG, PDF, AI, EPS, PS, DXF, EMF, WMF, PLT and CMX.
- Saves CDR files for older CorelDRAW versions, from X6 to 2025.
How it works, honestly
Two different methods, and we tell you which one you are getting:
Version downgrade rewrites the version number that a .cdr declares, in the three places it appears inside the package (the RIFF header, the styles file and the metadata). The drawing is not re-encoded. This is why the tool is fast and lossless, and why the further back you go, the more likely CorelDRAW is to complain about an effect it does not know. A native re-save by CorelDRAW itself is being built as a premium option.
Viewing and format conversion run open-source CorelDRAW readers on our servers: libcdr (from the Document Liberation Project, the same library behind LibreOffice and Inkscape), Inkscape, LibreOffice Draw and UniConvertor. They handle curves, text, fills, bitmaps and pages faithfully; a few effects unique to recent CorelDRAW releases may be simplified, and files converted to CDR are written by UniConvertor and open in CorelDRAW X4 and newer.
Privacy
Files stay on our servers only long enough to process and download them and are deleted automatically after six hours. We do not open, index, or share your artwork, we do not require an account, and we use cookie-less analytics. Details in the privacy policy.
